Declaring war on anxiety and depression.

1 in 4 of us are vulnerable to mental illness, as our lives get busier we run the risk of this statistic increasing.

I don’t pretend to know all of the answers. All I do know is that I know how it feels to be trapped in the horror of anxiety and depression.

I have so much passion for this subject; even hearing a passing comment on feeling blue and it’s on. There are no quick answers or cures but what I do know is – knowledge is power and connection is key.  I’ve learned a lot this last year. I learned that it is possible to grab hold of these conditions and manage them. I even learned that it’s possible to be, god forbid – happy and...calm.

I’m not a natural leader; I actually like to follow other influential people. I enjoy being mentored and I love learning from other people’s experiences. But, with mental health, I’ve found that I want to be on the other side. It’s the passion, it’s the drive to speak up and the great love I get from being able to offer some comfort to someone who's struggling.

From this, Sergeant Calm was born.

I believe that when there is darkness, connection is the light.
